Job Description

The Finance Associate position in the Supply Chain Management department will be responsible for the support of all processes and systems employed in the collection & processing of item purchases and the calculation, reporting & reconciliation of National Volume Discounts (NVD). We are looking for candidates with 1 - 3 years' experience in the finance & supply chain side of the business. Preference will be given to candidates that have experience and /or strong knowledge of the Canadian foodservice industry. 

Job Responsibilities

 

Rebate Calculation & Analysis
•    Calculate, analyze, and report on National Volume Discounts (NVD) defined and implied in our supplier/distributor contracts.
•    Close rebate plans timely to meet monthly and quarterly deadlines.
•    Work with our National Purchasing Managers (NPM) to correctly interpret and execute on our contract financials.
•    Follow up with suppliers for inquiries or disputes. Provide analyses and back up for billing disputes.
•    Maintain trackers for volume rebates, signing bonus, marketing funds etc.
•    Document contract setup and assist with internal SOX audit and external audit requirements
 

Receivables and Collections
•    Review and comment on supplier receivables in the A/R file. Follow up with the suppliers and gather backup for rebate claims. 
•    Apply supplier payments to the corresponding invoices. Close Receivables and post the collection report
•    Investigate odd payments and collaborate with other team members to identify next action to resolve payment and banking variances 

 

Systems, Process Improvement & Training
•    Work with team and systems department to identify, plan, test and rollout changes to our in-house contract & item database (Vtrak)
•    Elevate the finance support function through the identification and implementation of process and system efficiencies
•    Train and mentor staff on processes and procedures (no direct reports)

Qualifications

  • University Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting

  • Financial and/or process management experience with strong analytical abilities

  • Strong PC skills including advanced Excel & PowerPoint (Microsoft Access would be an asset)

  • Minimum 1 - 2 years work experience in a related role and new grads welcome

  • Good knowledge of retail or foods service products and categories is highly desirable.

  • Confident, organized self-starter with strong interpersonal and communication skills (written & verbal)

  • Must be detail oriented with ability to multi task, exercise good judgment and fully participate in the elevation and success of the purchasing department
