Job Description
As the District Manager you will provide overall vision, planning, direction and control to assigned units within a defined area, to exceed operating and financial goals. A District Manager is asked on a daily basis to make strategic decisions, then execute and deliver on those decisions. You will provide guidance and motivation to managers and other staff within your portfolio. The ability to identify top talent, communicate your vision and develop them to their full potential will be critical to your success and the success of your area. The District Manager establishes and maintains effective customer relationships and maintains mutually beneficial business relationships with clients. Assertive leadership in developing overall financial and business planning as well selling new business and growing existing business will be fundamental.
Job Responsibilities
Growth
• Plan, direct, and manage a group of locations in a division to meet client, operating and financial goals
• Properly set and manage client objectives/priorities and customer needs to drive growth, exceed client expectations and deliver contract retention
• Execute on quality and innovation by identifying opportunities to implement new products and services in partnership with clients
• Coordinate activities with other internal departments
• Serve as a customer advocate
• Maintain positive community relations (e.g., participate in professional and civic activities, make public appearances)
• Manage and guide team through the sales process
• Build effective partnership with Regional & Corporate support functions
Capture Cost and Productivity
• Deliver prescribed labour and food (if applicable) targets
• Manage a complex mix of Aramark employees across multiple locations, at different levels within the organization.
• Develop strategic operational plans aligned with the client's mission, vision, and objectives to include sustainable practices while balancing the fiscal constraints of the operation
• Interfaces with Regional Vice President, District Manager/s, Unit managers and their team
• Develops plans to optimize financial performance and productivity
Lead People
• Recruit, hire, develop, and retain a high performing management team to minimize turnover
• Support other business units within your district by sharing resources and assisting in functions
• Drive a culture of Safety through the implementation and maintenance of all safety, quality and service excellence standards
• Ensure requirements for appropriate sanitation and safety levels in respective areas are met
• Engage and inspire teams through active engagement, development and recognition using Encore, Encore or other available rewards programs
• Provide guidance and motivation to managers and other district staff
• Develops and maintains effective labor relations
Deliver Financial Commitments
• Fully leverage contract terms to deliver Growth & Margin targets
• Take full P&L accountability for your locations with revenues between $30-$80 M at a single site or within portfolio
• Perform other functions such as maintaining records to comply with Aramark, government and accrediting agency standards
• Develop District forecasts and manage outcomes on a monthly basis
• Provide overall planning, direction and control to assigned units within a defined district, to achieve operating and financial goals
Qualifications
In order to be prepared for this leadership role, qualified candidates will possess:
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or other related field preferred. Master’s Degree would be an asset.
• 10+ years progressive management experience managing complex operations/business with financial and operational responsibility for that business, multi-site OR multi-departmental.
• Successful high-volume P&L and budgetary management; exceptional organizational and time management skills with a proven track record of growing accounts.
• Demonstrated the ability to manage in a diverse environment with focus on client and customer services, entrepreneurship and building and growing a strong business is essential to success in this role.
• Self-starter, capable of leading, directing, and supporting a team in a diverse environment with highly developed interpersonal, analytical and communication skills.
• Travel is as required, for account/facility visits and participation in Regional and National activities.
• Willingness to relocate and live in the assigned market.
Education
Compensation Data
Salary range $100,000-$120,000 CAD base per year. Based on experience.
